Mia Kim
Mia Kim is a student of mixed descent, Korean and White. Being immersed in a multicultural household has helped her understand the extent of domestic abuse many women of color experience in silence. As a woman pursuing fields rooted in science, Mia has led numerous research projects in data analysis as the president of the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden Project and has fundraised nearly thirteen hundred dollars for the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. She is also the manager of Laser Cutting and Design of an engineering and design-based student-run company, DMS Solutions.
Aside from her STEM aspirations however, Mia has delved into the world of charity work and community service. She is Key Club’s Co-president, Executive Assistant (in comms.), and the Lieutenant Governor of Division 42E. Her experience in effective communication and resilience in many male-dominated workspaces amplifies her passion to confront the violence that disproportionately affects female communities across the globe. Mia often finds herself listening to music, designing clothes, and crocheting in her spare time.
