• During the Pahlavi Era of Iran, women were able to vote. They were able to run for Parliament, divorce, and even gain custody of a child. The marriage requirement was changed from 13 to 18 for young women. Court jurisdiction was required if a man opted to take a second wife. In fact, 2 million women across the country held jobs. Then the Iranian Revolution happened in 1979. In an instant, women lost everything they had gained.
